The LooM was imagined by Leslie Mathews after recovering from the haze of anxiety and losing herself. Life was full of frequent illnesses, RA flares, self-doubt, and anxiety attacks. She first turned to self-help books, giving her the courage to go on a women’s retreat and start working with a life coach. It took time and work, but the fog started clearing. Healing was so freeing.

As she healed, she was consumed by the idea of creating a place where others could find help and inspiration when life was hard, despite having no time for self-care and/or money to spend on coaching. The passion to share this freedom grew and evolved in 2020 when the need for community, mental health support, and creative joy became a necessity for survival.
Leslie's passion to serve others grew further as she navigated a divorce in 2021. She was called to serve in new ways as her love and appreciation of mindfulness and meditation grew. Leslie is now a Brown University Level 1 Certified MBSR instructor and is pursuing her Master in Social Work at Barry University. Combining these new skills with her law degree will give her the knowledge to help other women navigate motherhood, work-life balance, and the many challenges faced during the divorce process.

more about Leslie
Leslie, a Pisces sun, grew up in a small town in the Midwest and through life’s journeys, now lives near the soothing turquoise waters of St. Petersburg, Florida. As a passionate learner, she gathered degrees along the way. Divorced and a mother of three, she has followed her dreams to be a healer, an advocate, and a creator through mindfulness coaching, facilitating MBSR groups, and soon as a psycho-therapist.

Her most difficult education and job involved understanding herself. After several years of doing “the work,” she hopes to share what she is learning about life, wellness, and finding joy through mindful practices. The world is full of tools we can use to uncover our authentic selves, and Leslie wants to share the process of weaving them together in the LooM.
We will unravel. We will mend. We might get a snag right after that. The better we are at recognizing our weakest areas and the more we practice strengthening and mending, the easier it gets.
